Today is Alan Turing’s birthday.
The man who helped save the world from the Nazis by cracking their Enigma code — a genius portrayed in The Imitation Game. After the war, the British government gave him a cruel choice: prison or chemical castration, simply because he was gay. They used DES — the very same drug at the heart of our fight.
Turing died by suicide two years later, suffering the torturous side effects of a drug that never should have been unleashed on human bodies.
We remember him not just for his brilliance, but for the injustice he endured — a symbol of how systemic cruelty and medical recklessness can destroy lives.
