Our mission is to see the Pet Bath House located in Angels Camp, CA permanently closed and the persons responsible for the abduction and death of Cici to be brought to justice.
It’s bad enough losing your home and all your belongings in the horrific 2015 Butte Fire in Calaveras County, yet Steven Mendoza felt fortunate to have saved the lives of his 3 Pit Bulls, one of whom, Cici, who had been in his life over 11 years. Unable to find a rental that would accept 3 large dogs, Steven was forced to board them after the fire. They ended up at the Pet Bath House in Angels Camp, Ca. He had no idea that he would be swindled out of thousands of cash dollars, had his three precious fur babies stolen and his Cici found murdered, left in a bloody plastic garbage bag.
The owner of the Pet Bath House, Vonna Hughes, was happy to take Steven’s money, but after two separate canine altercations within the facility, she called him to say that she had euthanized his 3 dogs. Devastated, Steven called the police. When authorities questioned her, Hughes said that she had “gotten rid” of his dogs. A massive search ensued and after about a week, 2 of the three dogs were found but sadly, Cici’s remains were located in a trash bag 10 miles from the Pet Bath House.
Steven has been reunited with Casper and Coco but his pain still raw. This business is still open and Hughes is out on bail pending 6 felony charges and one misdemeanor, including cruelty to animals, stealing an animal for commercial use and grand theft. We need your support to help shut down the Pet Bath House.
