On 19 March 2023, 60 Minutes on the 9 Network aired a story, "Kidnapped In Japan". This story is a collaboration between The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and 60 Minutes:
Australia urges Japan to reform sole custody law
In short, under Japanise law, when marriages end, the parent whom has custody of the children, automatically gain 100% custody and the other parent will never see their children again. This goes as far that any attempts by the non-custodial parent to attempt to contact and see their children are arrested and face imprisonment.
Caught up in this, are Australia children, whom have been taken back to Japan and the non-custodial parent never to see their child again.
The story is triggering.
How can, in Australia we ask a foreign country to change is laws when right here on our own soil, we have a very serious issue around Parental Alienation, Psychological and Emotional Child Abuse ?
This screams hypocrisy, or perhaps the reporter, Eryk Bagshaw and Natalie Clancy have not done their homework ?
I have today written to Eryk to convey my points lets see if any response had.
