Friday December 23 ,2022 our family puppy Chevy was brutally shot. We came home around 3:30 pm maybe earlier and found our front and side porch covered in blood. My brother and I then followed the blood trail and found our 7 month old pit/lab mix puppy in our building. He had tucked himself in the corner under our lawn mower. At first all we had seen was his back right paw was completely hanging off. Just holding on by his pinky toe. I picked him up and with my brothers help we carried him inside and put him in the bathtub. I started rinsing to clean the blood so I could see what all was wrong at the time thinking he may have been stomped by a cow. We are surrounded by farms. Noticed his throat was bleeding really bad and blood coming out of his mouth. I thought then his throat had been slit. My bathtub was completely full of blood at this point. So we called our local vet Twin Oaks and they said bring him in. We get there and they rush him in and proceed to tell us everything. His jaw and throat are completely blown out at this point, tongue blown out, left back paw halfway blown off, and back right paw gone. They immediately start an IV to sedate him and give him pain meds. They then tell me this, my dog has been shot twice and his right paw would have to be cut off his left paw would only have 3 toes remaining on it, and he would never be able to eat again. At this point they don’t even know if he can be fixed. They tell me to go home and they will call me. Following day I go see him. The vet tells me he is doing good, he ate some canned chicken and they were thinking he was gonna make it. (This was on Christmas Eve). Christmas Day I didn’t go see him. I should have. Come Monday our vet is calling me saying that Chevy isn’t going to make it. It’s too bad. He is going to die of starvation. We need to put him down. Chevy passed away December 27,2022!

 

 

Meantime I’m going through the sheriffs dept and magistrate to try to press charges on the person that did this and they are telling me that I don’t have enough evidence and I can’t pursuer charges! 

Chevy was not on my property however he was on my landlords property where he as permission to be. The land is leased out to a farmer by the name of Jerry Edwards. Who also has gave me permission for my dogs to be on the farm. None of my dogs including Chevy are a threat to any livestock or humans on the farm. My dogs are the sweetest most lovable dogs. So with that being said I have a 6 minute long video of me confronting Jerry about my dog getting shot. He then tells me a guy by the name of Brian Crouse called him and told him that Chevy was in the field eating on a dead calf. When Jerry arrived to the field no dead calf’s were there nor my dogs messing with any cattle at all. The reasoning for confronting Jerry is because the blood trail from my dog started at the barn on the property he leases from my landlord. So after he checks the farm and sees no harm done by dog and leaves not even a few minutes later my daughter heard a gun shot and heard Chevy squalling. My daughter is 8 years old! And had to hear and see this! The vet before putting Chevy down let us know that it was actually only one shot. And it was with a 44 close range. This brain guy held my 7 month old puppy by his collar and shot him! We still have yet to find my dogs collar. Per my landlord Brian Crouse has no permission to be on ANY of his land. He has had issues with him threatening to shoot his horses and dogs before. 

Sheriffs dept and magistrate says we don’t have enough evidence to pursue charges! I have to take it to small claims court. I’m needing your guys voices to help stand up for Chevy! He didn’t deserve this! He was a baby! 

If you are a dog lover or have any kind of heart for an animal sign this petition! Let our voices be heard! Let Chevy know he was loved! He was a good boy! He did nothing wrong! Help me take down the man that did this! He deserves something to happen to him!

Chevy now sits on our mantle in a box! What a Christmas present for our family. I’m trying to pursue charges of: 

Animal Cruelty 

Payment of Suffering and Loss for my brother as Chevy was his dog I got him in May and for my 8 year old daughter who will forever be scarred by that

Trespassing 

And anything else we can pursue against him. Not to mention reimbursement of the vet bills we had to pay to try and save our little boy!
