The Issue

We, the public, have become increasingly worried about the level of crime and our safety in Antigua, particularly the safety of our nations children.
The kidnapping and murder of Chantel Crump exposed serious issues within our police force, as well as implicating a dangerous criminal trend in our nation. Our children are not safe in our country, and we believe more needs to be done to protect them.
The public have lost faith in the police force, a reckoning that has been a long time coming with the increase in crime and lack of resolve to many murders and disappearances. The Prime Minister himself agreed the force needs change and more funding. However, that will take time, time we do not have to safeguard our nations children.

This is a petition to demand change from our Prime Minister, Hon Gaston Browne.

1) We demand an external force, either The MET (formerly known as Scotland Yard), or the FBI, to come to Antigua to investigate the murder of Chantel Crump, as well as the other missing persons, children and adults alike, and unsolved murders. This is to include skilled persons in interrogation to interview Angela Mejia and Simbad Gellizeau. As well as possible  connections between Angela Mejia and murdered Jenifer Bridge and still missing, Orden David.

2) We demand immediate proof of communication and requests of external agencies to be provided by the Attorney General to the public.

3) We demand public engagement. A press conference with the Prime Minister, Attorney General and Commissioner of Police on a monthly basis until matters have been brought under control, and those responsible for the murders and disappearances have been brought to justice. As well as timely and appropriate updates from the police force in concerning matters.

4) In regard to the immediate safety of our children, we demand law enforcement officers and the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force to patrol all streets surrounding schools and bus routes at the end of the school day.

5) We demand an immediate change to the law in Chantel Crumps name and memory, to demand law enforcement act immediately following the reports of a missing child. This is to include road blocks, foot and car searches, as well as issuing warning messages to all phones, and sufficient bulletins immediately following a child’s reported disappearance. Not 24hrs later.

6) Finally, we demand an intervention from the Prime Minister, and an internal review, into the police force. The police force and the nation have become too divided. The police force must listen to the concerns and reports of its citizens. Citizens are offering information into many serious matters, and the police will not hear them or meet with relevant persons. This strategy is not working and it is time for the police to engage positively with their community members in order to solve crime.
