Our beloved brother, Bude Puka, was brutally killed in a manner that has left our family devastated.

According to information made available to our family:

Bude was allegedly assaulted by Constable Mqolo, a member of the National Intervention Unit. 

The accused was reportedly seen assaulting Bude.

The accused was reportedly seen driving Bude's vehicle after the incident.

The vehicle was later found burned.

Bude's remains were discovered inside the vehicle.

Constable Mqolo has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in the Indwe Magistrate's Court on 15 May 2026.

Bude leaves behind children who must now grow up without their father.

This case is about more than one family. It is about ensuring that those entrusted to protect the public are held accountable when they abuse that trust.

We call on the authorities to:

1. Oppose bail.

2. Conduct a transparent and thorough prosecution.

3. Protect witnesses.

4. Keep the family informed.

5. Ensure justice is served without delay.

6. Hold the responsible parties financially accountable for the destruction of Bude's vehicle.

No one should be above the law.
