The Issue
WE ARE DEMANDING JUSTICE FOR BRANDON TRAVIS !!!
On November 19th 2022 our family experienced a tragic loss. Also we weren't notified through the proper channels. We learned of the incident via social media (Instagram) when RIP posts were shared regarding Brandon Travis. Distraught without even being able to confirm or process the information. We then began to receive floods of articles and shares on multiple platforms in regards to the situation. These articles and shares painted Brandon as an aggressor in a situation that cost him his life. The story has now been taken up by many major platforms, creating an image of Brandon that is far from his normal self.
In addition to this altercation, another took place where Michael Peake and several other individuals attacked Brandon and his friends (Jonathan Smith & Eli). Brandon sustained a black eye and one of his friends' jaw was dislocated in an incident the university was aware of. Since then, this has been ongoing.
The media has spun the narrative that Peake shot back in self defense to make him a victim in the situation. One of the parties in the altercation (Jonathan Smith) stated that Peake began to shoot at them and that's when Brandon began to fire in self defense. Also the media has spun the narrative that Brandon used a 17yr female to lure Peake to campus when that's not true at all. Peake came to UNM with the intention of bringing a firearm. Now that Brandon cannot speak for himself, we are here to help him.
The University of New Mexico did not follow the proper protocol and notify his family immediately. We were not informed until the following day after the media had plastered this image on Brandon. This image failed to mention that he was the President of the African American Studies Department at UNM. He was also a star football player. Brandon began attending UNM in August, and here we are in November, right before the holidays, suffering a tragic loss and also a character assassination. We may not have a large following, but the TRUTH will always come to light.
The media has failed to mention Michael Peake's prior assault on Brandon Travis and also they have failed to mention the "FRIENDS" who left Brandon to bleed out to destroy evidence regroup their stories. They have found time to publicly humiliate the victim and make him a suspect due to Mike Peake being a NCAA basketball star in New Mexico.
My family is demanding a thorough investigation into all individuals involved , the lack of security personnel on UNM campus , the lack of communication where UNM failed to properly inform my family.
WE WANT ANSWERS , WE WANT THE TRUTH & WE WANT JUSTICE !!!!!!!!!!!
