Dear Supporters,
First, I want to thank you for standing with me in this fight for transparency, justice, and accountability at Birthing Beautiful Communities (BBC). Your support means everything, and we are making real progress.
It has been a while since my last update, but I have major developments to share.
1. I Filed a Federal Lawsuit
BBC stole my intellectual property, including my copyrighted program models, branding, and curriculum, and they are still using it unlawfully today. This is why I have filed a federal lawsuit to reclaim my rights and hold them accountable.
2. U.S. Copyright Confirms I Own BBC’s Materials
Despite what they claim, BBC never owned my work. No agreement was ever signed. I legally registered my intellectual property with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2019. I also by common law have trademark rights, which include the name, brand and any social assets. That means every dollar they have raised and every program they have run using my work was built on stolen property.
3. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office Is Now Investigating (Case #112075)
The AG’s office has officially acknowledged my complaint regarding financial mismanagement, misuse of donor funds, and retaliation. BBC is now under state-level scrutiny. Any information you may have or abuse you may have suffered through them (many mothers have claimed unpleasant experiences) can be sent to the Attorney General's office using this case number. The email is charitablelaw@ohioago.gov.
4. BBC Has Retaliated Against Petition Signers
Instead of addressing these concerns, they are punishing people who support this cause. BBC withdrew sponsorship from a community event hosted by someone who signed this petition. This is an attempt to silence those who speak out.
5. Jazmin Long on Video Dismissing Donor Accountability
At the City Club of Cleveland, CEO Jazmin Long publicly stated that donors "shouldn’t concern themselves" with how BBC spends money. Watch the video here: Jazmin Long at City Club
6. Long's Salary Skyrocketed While Services Declined
BBC claims to serve Black mothers, yet leadership has enriched themselves.
Jazmin Long’s salary package increased from $142,000 to $225,000 in just one year, a 58 percent increase, despite declining services and not having in person classes since I left, in 2021.
Also:
- She personally purchased a $344,900 home, a property that BBC previously used as an office.
- Over $9,000 in prepaid communication funds remain unaccounted for.
What You Can Do to Help Right Now
- You can donate to the legal fund. Please note that if you donated on the change.org platform, that money DOES NOT go toward the cause, it goes to the platform. If you want to donate to my legal fund, you can do so here: https://gofund.me/6fe903b3
- Share this petition again to bring more attention to these issues.
- Do you know a local and/or national investigative journalist? Please share.
- Ask elected officials why they have remained silent.
Despite being fully aware of the allegations against BBC, including financial mismanagement and intellectual property theft, State Rep. Juanita Brent still championed $800,000 in state funding for their birthing center in June 2024— six months after this scandal was made public.
Instead of pushing for an investigation or demanding accountability, she ignored concerns and helped funnel state dollars to an organization under serious legal scrutiny. Ohio taxpayers deserve better.
- Stay engaged as the next few weeks will be critical. This fight is about more than just me. It is about protecting creatives, protecting mothers and babies, and exposing corruption wherever it hides.
- Justice is coming—but we need to push even harder. Let’s keep going.
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." Genesis 50:20 (NIV)
With gratitude and determination,
