The Issue

A 13-year-old boy, Dog the Bounty Hunter’s teen step grandson, was shot and killed in his own home in Naples, Florida. His name was Anthony Zecca.

Authorities are calling it a “tragic accident.” But when a child is killed by a firearm inside a home, it’s not enough to say, “It was an accident,” and move on.

Anthony was a son, a grandson, and a child with his whole life ahead of him. His death was preventable. And it deserves a real investigation—not silence, not excuses.

Florida has one of the highest rates of gun deaths in the country—including some of the highest rates of child gun deaths. These tragedies aren’t rare. They’re predictable—and preventable.

We are calling on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and local prosecutors to:

  • Conduct a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances of Anthony’s death
  • Determine whether negligent gun storage or unlawful firearm access played a role
  • Recommend meaningful policy changes so this never happens again

This is not about politics. It’s about a child who is gone. It’s about the lives of other children who are still at risk.

Justice for Anthony means truth. It means accountability. And it means change.
