More Questions Have Come to Light in Alexis Bray's Case

When I first created this petition, Alexis had just been sentenced. I was a devastated mother trying to understand how my 18-year-old daughter could receive a 20-year, day-for-day sentence for conduct that occurred when she was still a teenager.

At that time, I knew my daughter had struggled with addiction, trauma, and exploitation. I knew there were serious questions surrounding her case. But I did not yet understand how many questions would remain unanswered.

More than a year has now passed since Alexis was sentenced on May 22, 2025.

She is still serving that 20-year sentence.

And I am still fighting.

Since the original petition was created, I have continued trying to obtain records and understand exactly what happened before Alexis entered her plea and before she was sentenced.

One of the most important issues involves information Alexis says she provided about other adult males who had been communicating with her and requesting explicit material from her.

Some of those communications reportedly involved Snapchat and Telegram. There are questions about what investigators knew, what Alexis reported, what evidence was available, whether that evidence was properly investigated and preserved, and what her defense attorney knew about it.

These questions matter.

They matter because Alexis was not living in a vacuum. She was a vulnerable teenager with a history of exploitation and serious substance addiction. If other adults were communicating with and potentially exploiting her, that information deserved to be investigated—not simply overlooked.

I am also continuing to investigate the performance of Alexis's appointed defense counsel and the circumstances surrounding her guilty plea.

I am not claiming that every unanswered question automatically means Alexis's conviction should be overturned.

I am saying that those questions deserve to be examined.

A guilty plea does not make every question surrounding the investigation, discovery, legal advice, or effectiveness of counsel disappear.

My goal is not to rewrite history.

My goal is to find out what actually happened.

I want the records. I want the transcripts. I want the investigative information. I want the communications and discovery that can legally be obtained. And I want qualified legal professionals to examine the case based on the actual evidence rather than assumptions.

Alexis was a teenager when this happened.

Today she is an adult serving a 20-year day-for-day sentence.

Whatever someone believes about the underlying allegations, I believe we should all be able to agree on one thing:

When a young person's life is taken away for decades, the legal process must be thorough, fair, and constitutionally sound.

I am asking everyone who signed this petition when I first created it not to forget Alexis.

Please share this petition again.

Please help me reach attorneys, legal organizations, investigators, journalists, and advocates who are willing to look beyond the judgment and examine the underlying record.

I am one mother fighting for her daughter.

I cannot change what happened.

But I can keep asking questions.

I can keep seeking the records.

I can keep looking for the truth.

And I can and will keep fighting for Alexis.
