Justice for Alberto “Tito” Noriega

The Issue

On March 22, 2022, 27 year old Alberto “Tito” Noriega was murdered by Mesa Police in the city of Chandler, Arizona. Mesa Police claims he reached for a handgun which was later determined to be an air-soft/ Co2 style handgun. They continue with the same false narrative. However, videos and statements from officers involved and witnesses at the scene have major discrepancies from what Mesa alleges. Several of the officers have been involved in other shootings and have had numerous complaints filed against them.

The officers gang-style tactics ultimately resulted in Alberto’s death and we demand justice and accountability. Alberto was a loving father and leaves behind his 8 year old son. His life was taken from him too soon and his family and friends are heartbroken.

Nearly 5 months have passed since my brother was killed and still no justice. The medical examiner’s report has been placed on a legal hold, and Mesa PD has not released any information. Chandler PD is leading the investigation and has already submitted the report to the Maricopa County Attorneys Office with its findings.

Public trust is lost when police engage in unconstitutional or unprofessional conduct. Mesa Police Chief Ken Cost, Chandler Police Chief Sean Dugan and the Maricopa County Attorneys Office need to promote more transparency to the systems in place that detect mistakes and abuses of police authority.

Mesa PD instantly deployed a less-lethal shotgun round upon contact from the back seat of a moving vehicle, knocking him down.

He was sitting on the motorcycle when they attacked him. No police sirens or lights were on at the time contact was made. They didn’t identify themselves or give verbal commands.

Right after the vehicle was placed in park, the officer is seen deploying his taser soon after he was shot off the bike with a non-lethal shotgun round. He was repeatedly tasered when the BB gun at his waist band was revealed and noticed by officers. Shortly after, nearly a dozen rounds were fired, striking and killing him and hitting nearby homes. He was then tasered again and handcuffed before aide was given.
Mesa PD failed to comply with the departments policies and procedures!!

The results could have been dramatically different. They didn’t have to kill him! Police are to protect and serve, not hunt and kill!
Help me share his story and bring justice to Alberto and his family by signing and sharing
