Dear signers,

The 1158 Assistant Professor and Librarian Front, Punjab conducted a state-level protest march from the office of the Higher Education Department in Mohali to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on August 4, 2026, demanding that the Punjab Government bring a special Act to secure the permanent employment of the 1,158 Assistant Professors and Librarians and safeguard higher education in the state. During the march, police attempted to stop the protesters near the jail barricades, resulting in a brief confrontation before the march continued. A delegation of the Front later met with senior government officials and submitted its demands.

Following discussions with the police administration and government officials, Chief Minister's Chief Secretary Navraj Singh assured the Front that a meeting with the Chief Minister would be held on August 13, 2026. The Front welcomed the assurance but stated that it expects meaningful action during the meeting. It further announced that if the meeting is not held or fails to produce a concrete outcome, it will intensify its agitation and continue its struggle for a permanent legislative solution.

Now, more than ever, your support is crucial. Please sign and share this petition, and stand with the affected educators by supporting this struggle in every possible way. Together, we can help ensure that their voices are heard and justice prevails.
