The following is my recent appeal to the Senior Officials at the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
They forcibly held me Hostage here for over the past 6-hellish years, unjustly deprived me of everything, of even livelihoods and as well as legal aid. They have clearly set me up for critical failure. I cannot provide food for myself anymore. They even stole all my clothes, not just once, but several times. Most probably I would also be without shelter as well, even before I know it. I am right now in immediate need of life saving support without which I would be at the imminent risk of survival. They have been brutally torturing me here for the past 6-hellish years and knowingly made me live like, as if I was less than human, and as if they owned me. I have lived through the darkest days of my life at the hands of the people who shamelessly dare to claim they are out there to help and protect us. The people who stole everything from me and now want to take away my life too, as if it was given to me by them.
My official complaints before the UNHCR's Inspector General and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) seem to have remained in the dark, and I have no information as to what their current status is. Several of my complaints before the Greek Ombudsman facing a similar fate. The European Ombudsman as well as the Petition Committee of the European Parliament declined to intervene and left the matter to be resolved by the Greek Ombudsman. Meanwhile, I am also expecting a response from SOLVIT-Greece, however the prospect of obtaining a reasonable and effective response from them seems to be pretty slim as well. I don't know who else left to turn to anymore. I am exhausted, they are killing me here and want to cover it up and simply go away with it. I have no rest; I have no sleep. I fear for my life, my safety and well-being.
The only reason I could make it to date, was principally because of my own savings from the past. But that ran out. During my second Hunger Strike and before my hospitalization(s) occurs, I received a small number of donations from several individuals that helped me survive to date, but that also ran out and now I am in immediate need of life saving support without which I would be at the imminent risk of survival.
Nothing like this should happen to anyone, anywhere and no one should be put through a situation like this.
The precarious situations faced by people around the world, such as myself, are not being put on hold during the pandemic. It is unacceptable for any country to expect people to put their plight on hold while their lives are under constant risk. Respecting human rights obligations should not be limited to when it is convenient. They must be met even in difficult times.
