After I was already detained for warrants, the officers involved decided not to wait for animal control. Instead, they entered the room where Roman and his kennel lay. Startled, Roman escaped and, in the chaos, bit an officer. The officer’s response was to shoot him. To this day, I never received Roman's remains, nor was I given any opportunity to provide my consent regarding their handling. Roman was not just my pet—he was my son, loyal and innocent.
