While on Tom's page I noticed that JustGiving were advertising that a "small percentage" of every donation made is taken from the charity to process the payments.

At this moment in time the NHS needs every single penny of it raised not be paying transaction fees to JustGiving!

As it stood when I wrote this the magnificent Tom Moore has raised £12,024,875.32 from 613,967 supporters with an additional £2,244,185.18 in gift aid! This is an amazing amount but when I looked further into the small amount taken from the charity it isn't such a small amount. Currently JustGiving are going to be taking £473,475.29 in total as transaction fees!

This is worked out by

£0.20 is taken for every transaction (donation)

1.9% is taken on all payments 

And then finally they take an additional 5% on all gift aid payments!

So when you do the numbers it looks like this:

613,967 supporters x £0.20 = £122,793.40

12,024,875.32 overall raised (at time of writing) × 1.9% = £227,472.63

2,244,185.18 gift aid raised x 5% = £122,209.26

These all added together is a total of £473,475.29!

I think we all know this money is best being spent on the NHS saving lives!
