  • THE GREEN AREAS ON THE MAP ABOVE DENOTE AVAILABLE SITES.
  • Texas-based Million Air proposes to build a 90,000-gallon, industrial-sized aviation fuel farm at Pease – within 100 feet of sensitive wetlands.
  • These wetlands are the site of previous contamination and the focus of a multi-million dollar, years-long remediation led by the US Air Force.
  • The contamination spreads throughout the wetlands and on the exact site of the proposed Million Air facility.
  • Million Air's argument is to focus on the quality of its fuel storage tanks, completely ignoring past contamination issues, overlooking the spillage and runoff risks of their proposal and the fact their tanks are buried just 100 feet from the wetlands.
  • Much like PFAS and previous water contamination concerns, this is a priority for local residents worried about clean water – because it’s all connected.
  • This site mid-Pease connects directly to North Mill Pond by Hodgson’s Brook and from here, contamination can easily reach the Piscataqua River.
  • Storing and handling chemicals like jet fuel and deicing fluid near that sensitive site poses a large-scale risk.
  • In addition, Million Air plans to pave a road through the sensitive area, where monitoring wells and even Pease drinking water supply is nearby.
  • This road work will disturb the previously-contaminated soils raising immediate and long-lasting risk to spreading those contaminants downstream.
  • An important aspect of this FBO application has been overlooked or mishandled--FAA approval is required.  Pease Development Authority is required to submit a revised "airport layout plan" to the FAA whenever new facilities at the airport are proposed.
  • The proposed changes to the airport layout plan must be approved by the FAA and the approval process requires, in cases such as this, an environmental impact statement.
  • We believe an environmental impact statement would result in an alternative site for the FBO facilities proposed by Million Air.
  •  If the Pease Development Authority does not require Million Air to choose a different site for its proposed facilities, a revised airport layout plan should be submitted to the FAA for approval before any further action is taken.
  • Our communities' message to Million Air:  build a fuel farm on another site.
