For a long time, Terra Nova’s Mascot has been a tiger that is overused and to common a mascot. 

Big Chungus, or Chungus for short, is a beloved big and fat rabbit that is recognizable by all who are millennials and gen z.

Changing Terra Nova’s mascot to Big Chungus would not only create local and national from media outlets of all types, but it would also increase Terra Nova’s Student Enrollment that has been declining over the years, but Big Chungus would change that. 

In a 5-year time frame, Terra Nova’s student enrollment will increase from 900 students, to 1300 students. Students from the peninsula will want to attend Terra Nova High School instead of going to a catholic school 20 miles away. This is because students and parents would agree that going to a school with Big Chungus as there mascot is a school that is one of the best in Academics and Athletics, and better represent Terra Nova.

The money to change the images and licensing from ‘Terra Nova Tigers’ to ‘Terra Nova Chungus’ would be covered by increased attendance in sports events(football, basketball, etc.) and end up being sellouts because of the support for our Terra Nova Chungus athletes. Our school colors(black and yellow) would stay the same, except the face of Big Chungus would replace the tiger logos and the word ‘Chungus’ would replace the word ‘Tiger’ on sports apparel. The Big Chungus physical mascot would also be more kid friendly and popular than the Tiger mascot as it would be more recognizable by people of all ages. Everytime the Terra Nova Football team makes a touchdown, Big Chungus famous quote “That’ll hold him alright, hehehehe” will play on the loudspeaker, followed by the Terra Nova Chungus band.

Sign this petition not only changes Terra Nova’s mascot from a Tiger to Big Chungus, but also gives Terra Nova a second life as the school to go to in the Bay Area and recognition on Terra Nova’s Wikipedia page as the “First and only school to have Big Chungus as their official mascot”.
