Help Stop an Execution of Jeffery Lee! Call Governor Ivey, sign both petitions!

Hi friends,

As we continue fighting for Julius’ freedom, our commitment to ending the death penalty remains just as strong. Many of you stood with my family when my brother’s life was on the line, and I’m asking you to stand with us once again — this time for Jeffery Lee.

Jeffery is scheduled for execution in Alabama on Thursday, September 17, and he needs our collective voice. We’re asking for your support as we fight for his life and push back against another unjust execution.

This Thursday, the state of Alabama plans to execute Jeffery Lee — despite the fact that the jury who heard his case voted for him to live. This is true for 24 other people on Alabama’s death row.

In 2017, Governor Kay Ivey and the Republican supermajority legislature agreed that the practice of judicial override — which allowed a single judge to overturn the verdict of the jury — was wrong. If it was wrong in 2017, it is wrong today.

This week we ask that you contact Governor Kay Ivey and ask her to institute a moratorium for Jeffery Lee and the 24 individuals whose juries determined that death was not an appropriate sentence.

While we ultimately hope for clemency for these individuals who are only on death row because a single elected judge disregarded the jury’s decision, it at least warrants a pause to allow legislative and public review.

The sacredness of human life requires us to not prioritize politics over people.  Thank you for standing with us and using your voice while there is still time to act.
