Hi, my name is JayZee Brown, Sophomore undergrad here at the University of St. Thomas. As we all know with the unfortunate circumstances of Covid-19, our best and safest option was to move classes online for the rest of the semester. Thank you to all the staff and faculty doing their best to make this an easy transition. However, keeping in mind that St. Thomas is a prestigious university known for providing students with the best education; It has been quite the challenge for most students and professors to learn from a remote class designated for us to learn in person, where we can communicate directly with our peers and professors to find a solution.

Though these things were inevitable, we as students should not be expected to pay the same tuition as we would if we were learning in a physical classroom setting. I understand that most of our tuition goes to the highly skilled professors and faculty who surely don’t deserve pay cuts or loss of jobs due to this. But also, another part of our tuition are the countless fees we must pay for Labs, Technology, Facilities, etc., that we were only able to use 1 month of the semester. With many students at loss of jobs or simply stressed and confused about the future during this tough time, it raises the question. Is it fair for students to continue to pay a university education price, for an online education?

Thank you for taking time to read and sign, as I'm hoping this petition will raise enough awareness to faculty for a change. As students we should always stand up & do everything we can to limit our future debt. And even more important remember to stay safe and healthy during this time.
