Northern Pacific Humpback Whales migrate up to 25 000 miles to mate an calve, and when they reach the bays in Canada and elsewhere in the world, they require a safe, clean, quiet environmentally sustainable and protected haven. They suffer continued risk as a species during their time in Canada and in foreign waters as well, from oil tankers, fishing nets, whaling, oil spills, pollution, and noise which threatens their survival as a species.

Northern Pacific Humpback Whales are an endangered "at risk" species when they face these continued threats to their survival - and It is imperitave for their survival that the havens they choose are kept clean, free, and unpolluted.

It is also vital that their status in SARA [Species At Risk Act] remains "at risk" and "threatened" and that their status not be downgraded to a 'species of concern'.

The oceans are the home to marine life. The oceans belong to them, not us. By signing this petition I support the:

1. full protection of the Northern Humpback Whale's status as a species 'at risk' and 'under threat' and  

2. full protection of the Northern Humbpack Whale's habitat as well.
