Justice for Toby the Mutilated Kitten--Send His Torturer to Jail!

The Issue

Toby thought his life had changed the day he was adopted from Miami Dade Animal Services.  At only 8 weeks old, he’d been saved from the tough streets of Miami and thought he'd found a good home.  Life could only get better and nobody could ever harm him again… little did he know that his good luck would not last long and that his first scratch to the furniture had sealed his fate.

On September 28, 2015 Toby's guardian, Carmenza Piedrahita, decided to pack him into a carrier and send him off with a man she’d met at a party who, along with another man, held him down and cut off the ends of his toes.  The bleeding tissue of his butchered paws was stuck together with crazy glue, and he was sent home with the beginning of a raging infection that would ultimately kill him.

By October 9th he had been suffering for 12 days as his body went septic from the infection and he was vomiting green liquid, becoming increasingly dehydrated and sick.  His ‘guardian’ took him to the Animal Welfare Society of South Florida that day where it was found that he was “in severe pain due to exposed bones in both front legs.”

Toby never made it home.  He died in excruciating pain after the one person who had promised to care for him and protect him from harm had sent him off with strangers to be mutilated and then cruelly allowed him to suffer for almost two weeks before seeking treatment… treatment that was way too late to save his life.

It did, however, end his suffering.

Toby was the helpless victim of this ignorant and deliberate cruelty—now we must be his voice and bring his torturers to justice!

Carmenza Piedrahita’s trial is set for January 14th 2016 at 9:30 am.  State Case No. 13-2015-CF-024745-A000-XX

NOW is the time to contact Judge Yvonne Colodny (who will be hearing this case) and let her know that we feel Carmenza Piedrahita deserves to be punished to the fullest possible extent of the law with the maximum penalty for her crime.
