Judge Virginia Vincent: Free my wrongfully accused father

Judge Virginia Vincent: Free my wrongfully accused father
The Issue
10 years ago, the daughter of my father’s ex-girlfriend accused him of sexual assault. There was never any physical or witness evidence to support the young woman’s claim. My father was later convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The woman stood by her claim during my Dad’s appeal trial.
But last year, she visited the Birmingham police and recanted her story on video, telling the detective “she’s grown now.” She contacted the state’s attorney’s office -- requesting an opportunity to clear the record. She also recorded a sworn deposition where she declared that her previous accusation and testimony of sexual assault was false. My family was relieved because we always believed my father was innocent of these charges.
When the accuser was scheduled to appear in court to deliver her new testimony (at the Jefferson County District Attorney’s request), she changed her mind -- and “accused” my family of pressuring her to change her testimony. We were stunned. None of this is true. My family was crushed again as the judge rejected the D.A.’s request to vacate my dad’s conviction and sent him back to prison.
I am my father’s only daughter. My dad has always been there for me. Because of his wrongful conviction and imprisonment, he’s missed my college graduation and my wedding. I don’t want him to miss the birth of my first child. My father and our family have been victimized by this fickle accuser for far too long. Please help me reunite my family! Sign this petition today and tell Judge Vincent to vacate my father’s wrongful prison sentence -- and let him come home!
