Save the Animals of the Tri-County Animal Shelter, Albany, Kentucky

Save the Animals of the Tri-County Animal Shelter, Albany, Kentucky
The Issue
Please support the animals of the Tri County Animal Shelter in Albany, KY.
Tri County Animal Shelter is not meeting the KY Animal Shelter Standards that passed in 2004. There are several areas of concern:
*The shelter must be staffed on weekends with a regular schedule so that animals are not sitting there without food and water. Many, many other operational issues exist in addition to this.
*The unchanging conditions - even after everyone was assured they were corrected, they are not. A recent parvo outbreak in the shelter shows continued issues. There was a deceased cat lying on the floor, and another cat who had been suffering in a cage from a severely broken limb had been sick all over his cage and was in deplorable conditions. The shelter standards clearly state that the shelter must: Provide potable, uncontaminated water to every animal at all times, and palatable, uncontaminated food daily. This is not happening.
*Shutting out volunteers and rescues: The shelter has recently enacted new rules. One is that the public is only allowed in for only 20 hours a week. The shelter standards clearly state it must be no less than 24 hours a week. By limiting the public access, it will be nearly impossible to move these animals out of this rural shelter and into rescues in other parts of the state. It also makes it very difficult for the public who work to come into the shelter to adopt. This will make it even more difficult for animals to be adopted or rescued.
*Lack of transparency - why not be open about what is happening in the shelter?
*The shelter allegedly put all their cats down (June 21, 2016) after shelter volunteers attempted to help improve conditions in the shelter. The assumed deaths have never been explained nor the their whereabouts disclosed.
