I started this petition in hopes to clear or minumize the charges of aggravated murder on Arriel Bryant of Cleveland,Ohio. Arriel has been a victim of domestic violence for quite some time now. Not only are there documented reports of abuse towards her caused by the victim Eric Kelley. But, how many instances were never reported?! As that may look bad on a self defense plea, as well as dropping charges when they were pressed... You have to take into consideration the reasonings behind it. Not only was this the father of her children (so not wanting him to be in prison AGAIN and away from their children) , there's also the factor of the "what will happen now?!" Growing up in a domestic violence household myself, I know first hand how scary it can be. It doesn't end when you get hit or harmed in whatever aspect that it may be... But, you're then stuck with the "what will they do to me now?!" "How far will they go?" "Is this gonna make things worse for me?" "How mad will this make him and what will my consequences be?" "There's the after effect of the cops being called and them goin to jail. When they are willing to hurt you and do these things without any threat at all... What will now happen since their freedom has been threatened or taken away? And in the back of your mind you think "Is it even worth it?!" There's no real "good ending" in this... Even if charges are infact dropped! The children are still left without a father and all the memories that led up to this whole situation! Please give this the attention it deserves and don't throw it to the side because it's just another case! Too many woman are sitting in prison for things they did only after being left with no other option and being stuck in a "it's either you or me" situation! And let's face it....I think we all would be considered a murderer and possibly do some of the same things these women are sitting in prison for if we were in their shoes and endured the things they have! Please help me by joining this petition and bringing Arriel home to her kids!
