We hardly ever get a chance to talk about who Rebecca Hogue is as a person. Beyond this horrifying trauma and injustice she’s living through.
She is just so lovely, witty, compassionate, and funny. She absolutely loves to read and learn new things. She grew up in the OKC metro. She never knew her father because he died in the Oklahoma County Jail when she was three. Which she didn’t know until she was older.
She wants to see the ocean and visit every National Park someday.
Her favorite job was working with hospice patients, which she did while she was out on bail after her son’s murder. When someone asked how she could possibly do that work so soon after she lost him, she said it was an honor to be with folks at the end. Caring for people who sometimes had no one. And, that maybe Ryder would be there to meet them when they got to the other side. That seemed to bring both her and them some comfort.
It’s still really hard for her to look at his pictures or talk about Ryder without breaking down. Her friends describe him as her whole world.
That's what makes her being charged especially cruel. She is shattered from losing him.
We hope the injustice part of Becca’s living nightmare these last two years ends this Friday with Judge Tupper’s decision.
We need a system that supports victims, not one that criminalizes them.
Please continue to share our petition to help us raise awareness as we anxiously await Judge Tupper's decision this Friday.
Justice for Rebecca is Justice for Ryder.
