Deny Trump Trial Continuance Request

The Issue

On November 13, 2016, Daniel Petrocelli, Donald Trump's lawyer in the Trump University fraud case requested a continuance until after the inauguration. This request should be denied.

Petrocelli's argument is that the President-elect is too busy with transition.  However, a sitting president is no less busy than a president-elect.  This argument denies the rights' of the plaintiffs and devalues the actual office of president (indicating he is more busy now, than he will be as President).

A delay at this time will minimally abridge, and likely deny, the plaintiffs' right to trial of their claims. And, that is particularly egregious in this case because it includes special claims of elder fraud for those older than 65. They have waited 6 years already to have their day in court.

Donald Trump needs to resolve his personal legal matters before taking office. This trial has been ongoing for 6 years, and he has sought delays previously.

It is time to face the music.   Give plaintiffs' their right to trial.
