Matthew Tidwell was under the influence of Xanax and codeine the night he put our 3 daughters in his car to go buy more pills and had a wreck killing our oldest daughter Samantha who was 7 at the time and severely injuring Ava who was 6 at the time and Madi who was 4. He not only caused the wreck he tried to leave Ava and Madi on the side of the road so he wouldn't go to jail. The state had all the witness testimonies and even a blood test that showed Matthew was under the influence but chose not to take it to trial instead offered him a plea deal of 126 months split 33 months....and if he is well behaved he will get out of prison in 24 months!!! My daughter's life is only worth 2 years of Matthew's freedom to the Lauderdale County DA. The worst part about it is the DA didn't consult me Samantha's mother before offering the deal. He was quoted in the paper as saying all parties involved in the girl's lives are supportive of this deal...that is not true the only people he consulted were Matthew's parents, the same people who have supported him this whole time. I started this petition because this is my last chance to get Matthew a harsher sentence...nothing is official until his sentencing date which is Aug.10th so Judge Self still has the powe to do what is right for my babies they all deserve justice.
