900 Signatures! Thank you for sharing! We are so close to hitting the 1,000 mark!

   I was reflecting this morning as I one of the dogs and I were walking up the last of the cows and calves into the pens so the youngest calves could be tagged and vaccinated. I am so fortunate to be involved in ranching. While not on the scale I once was, I still get great enjoyment of watching calves grow. I realize that most folks have no idea what it actually takes and do not understand what goes into the production of their protein, and maybe that’s one of the problems. 

     At this point Rose’s pups would be weaned, they would be started on obedience commands, potty training. All necessities of becoming a great working dog like their mom one day. Rose would have been in heaven this morning! All the mamas were in an agreeable mood and just as hoped the Dog or I never had to get out of a walk. Only one calf tried to turn back, instead of following his mom, the old boy was right there faster than any human and all it took was a bark to convince the calf going through the gate was the best plan. The old dog trotted off so proud of himself, he got to actually do something. My mind went straight to Rose- she does the same thing. All 14 lbs turning a 900lb cow with a bark and a jump- projecting her huge personality...then trotting off so smug like. 

    I’ll be the first to say a good dog is better than a day worker most of the time- usually they can be anxious to grab their rope or put up a chase. I like the cows to stay calm, not raise my voice and just walk. Easier on everyone. 

    We finished about lunch, it was getting plenty warm, the dogs never far away- they sure don’t want to miss anything! A few good horses and dogs can take the place of a whole crew of men! This life may be 24/7/365 by I love every second of it and pray that the judge and jury sees the truth. I was going after my good horse and had my good dog with pups with me to give her the best care. I can sure bet she would’ve rather been out helping me gather cows than locked in a strangers back bathroom!
