Keep McCracken County Animal Shelter open

Keep McCracken County Animal Shelter open
The Issue
The McCracken County Humane Society is building an add on to their building that only holds 40 dogs. The McCracken County Animal Shelter currently has 100 dogs and that's not including cats. The Humane Society also turns away pitbulls and wants the image of only having "cute and cuddly" animals. So when this "merger" of the shelter and Humane Society happens, the animals that don't pass the Humane Society's evaluation will be put to sleep. The animal shelter was formed when the Humane Society was euthanizing animals at their facility. The animal shelter is a no-kill shelter. With closing the shelter, people will lose their jobs and it will eliminate the inmate work program. We are one of the bigger cities in Kentucky and to only have one facility to take in animals would mean a lot of animals being put to sleep.
