The Metropolitan Park Zoo in the Venezuelan zoo state of Zulia is in appalling conditions. Every animal in the zoo has gone for weeks without food, the lions are starved to the point where their bones are showing.
Thanks to the countries economical issue the cost of meat has become too expensive for the zoo to afford. Starving animals have resorted to cannibalizing each other. The zoo also has started killing off their domestic animals in order to feed the big cats. Goats, pigs, and ducks, as well as older animals, have been sacrificed in order to feed the lions.
It is responsible and the duty of the zoo to care for the animals that they have caged. To sacrifice one animal to save another is short side and unsustainable in the long run. The zoo should relinquish their animals to other countries that can care for them. It is a dereliction of duty to keep the animals in such appalling conditions.
Please sign and share, together we can rescue the dying animals before it is too late. Time is of the essences, it won't be long before the big cats who require 25 pounds of food a day die of starvation. Thank You.
