Hundreds of Jackson State University students are facing an unfair housing crisis—and we need answers.

We applied for housing and financial aid as early as spring, believing our spots were secure. But this fall, many of us were randomly and automatically removed from our housing assignments without warning.

Some were told it was because of an “unpaid balance” that didn’t exist. Others had their financial aid delayed or incorrectly applied.

As a result, students are now:

    •    Left with no housing assignment at all

    •    Placed on long wait lists

    •    Reassigned to housing $3,000+ more expensive than the original assignment—without a meal plan

    •    Given no clear answers from housing, financial aid, or administration

Now, we’re being told to either pay the difference or have no housing at all.

We, the students of JSU, demand that the university:

    1.    Provide immediate answers from Housing, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, and the President’s Office.

    2.    Honor original housing assignments OR cover any cost increases caused by these errors.

    3.    Take accountability and ensure this never happens again.

JSU – Step up. Make it right. Find the housing. Pay the difference.
