For a university that values good education, it is surprising that the Jose Rizal University - Senior High School Division will forcefully separate the Top 45 students that excel in each specific track without considering the students’ preference.

As students, we have the right to choose what we want and we also have the right to be happy in our lives. In the previous semester, the administration was able to monitor the progress of each student effectively without having them put in the same section. The issue here is that, students included in the honor roll will be forcefully pulled out of their respective sections that they will enroll in and be put into the star section, whether they like it or not. If students insist in staying in regular section, the students will never be included in the honor roll no matter what will happen.

Before, the administration didn't implement this even though they can freely see the grades of the students who enrolled in the past semester. Some students even wished for a star section before; so that they can be together with their old classmates. Unfortunately, they rejected this proposal. They stated that the star sections were not implemented to provide an opportunity to socialize with others and gain new experience as this was first batch to fall under the implementation of the new K-12 program.

Next semester, they will fully implement these so called “star sections”. It is good that the university values good education but it will be useless if students will be put in an environment they do not want. That itself is not conducive to learning and may greatly affect the students’ performance.
