Stop Deforestation! Start Reforestation! Can you think of a world without trees?

By 2030 the world may have only 10% of our forests left. Trees do help us get wood to build shelters and paper but too much of it can really harm the environment. We should use alternatives to wood.

Trees are good for the environment because they capture a harmful greenhouse gas called carbon dioxide. It helps to clear our air so we can breathe. The carbon dioxide is released when the trees are cut down and it floats into our atmosphere and causes global warming. When trees are cut down the carbon dioxide that the tree leaves hold in is released and pollutes the planet.

Trees are also home to a lot of animals like blue jays, falcons, etc. Many animals like squirrels rely on trees for food. Without it, animals could die.

Bees help pollinate and grow plants but their hives are in trees. If we cut down trees, their hives will be gone, and then bees will die too, which will leave no one to pollinate the plants. This also disrupts the food chain because humans rely on omnivores and carnivores for food that rely on herbivores for food that rely on trees and plants. Without trees and plants, herbivores will die of starvation then omnivores and carnivores will die, and then finally humans. Those are three reasons why you should ban deforestation now.

You probably know the Hershy company and the Disney company.  Did you know that they are trying to stop deforestation? Yes! It's true!! The government should use them as an example.

Stop Deforestation! Start Reforestation! Without trees, how do we breathe?
