The early release of Lonnie D Roacher

The early release of Lonnie D Roacher
The Issue
To those who don't know me, my name is Lonnie Roacher, I am currently serving an active 16year sentence for possessing an unregistered firearm. 2 years ago I filed a clemency / pardon petition with the governors office seeking early release or a sentence reduction. To be more precise, I was charged and convicted of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, (Five years), probation violation (10years) and two counts of assault on an officer (six months a piece). I do regret resisting arrest however I'm happy that neither officer was seriously Injured while we tussled on the ground, and I'm blessed to have had my life spared by the officers involved. To those who do know me, my light hearted spirit speaks volumes about who I am as a man. However, in my youth I made bad decisions that led to my being sent to prison as a teen. Peer pressure led to me being involved in a robbery offense where no one was injured. And from there my life was forever changed. I hold myself accountable for my actions, however, over sentencing is a very big deal in this nation and I'm more then sure I was over sentence for the offense I have been convicted of. Thus why, I'm turning to the people for help as I prepare to file a petition for clemency/pardon with the governor. September makes 12 years of incarceration since being charged for possession of a firearm in 2010.With COVID-19 alive and well, I question if keeping me incarcerated for an additional three years will benefit society any? I myself contracted Covid in the winter of 2020 and it was a life changing experience. I've grown into a spiritually sound, ambitious, intellectual as I've grown into adulthood. I've hosted programs, such as, black history month celebrations and essay writing competitions, overall, I am a good man with aspirations of founding a learning center specifically for the youth while assisting the communities with programs that cater to the less fortunate. I am now a loving Husband and father to two young boys, and I am more than certain I am deserving of another chance at life. Yes, I have made mistakes, but none are unforgivable, therefore I refuse to allow my circumstances to define me. So, after hearing my circumstances I pray that those reading will sign my petition and comment if u choose to, as I strive to have my sentenced reduced by our governor. Thank you and God Bless.
