We were told 'it's impossible!' in writing, and in person, over 100 times. Due to huge cultural differences, we had to wait to play the petition card. BUT IT WORKED! THANK YOU! We marched into offices in Amman, travelled to South Jordan to Aqaba, made ourselves a bigger nuisance than they cared to deal with, refused to leave for days, through awkward gesticulation: eventually gained direct contact with directors of various governmental orgs on Whatsapp, emptied the whole container, employed 10+ workers to help us physically sort through every item in just two days. We then got taken out for dinner, and it looked like finally: everyone was on side! We want to give a HUGE thanks to: -Rula and Hassan at Jordan Institution of Metrology and Standards, -Poor Mohanned and Mohammed at Arab Tower Clearance who had to follow us around every step of the way. -EVERYONE at Jordan Food and Drugs Authority. -and....the lovely man at Customs you see dressed in camo. >All for their stamps and signatures. Also huge thanks to: -Tom from Acting for Change International, our partner charity, who facilitated a lot of angry translation! -Helen Kitto at home, for holding the fort online! -Our friends at the Worldwide Tribe for sharing our petition when it mattered the most. We've made so many new friends, and are ecstatic to have salvaged 80% of this container's contents. ***Now what?*** The container leaves Aqaba customs yard, for our storage in Mafraq in North Jordan. >>Stay tuned on our FB for updates on our free winter clothes shop for refugees in Zaa'tari, and updates on the differences the equipment in this container is making for the pupils of Zaa'tari Kids Village School :) https://www.facebook.com/RefugEase/ https://www.facebook.com/ActingforChangeInternational/
