Akhirnya hari ini datang! Ketiga matra TNI—darat, laut, dan udara—telah menghapus “tes keperawanan” dari proses rekrutmen mereka untuk calon prajurit sekaligus calon mempelai prajurit. Saya menyatakan kemenangan petisi pada bulan Agustus 2021 setelah Jenderal Andika Perkasa mengumumkan perubahan peraturan kesehatan untuk TNI-AD; aksi itu membantu isu “tes keperawanan” kembali diangkat di media. Biarpun demikian, beberapa pendukung #stopvirginitytestsID tetap memantau rekrutmen TNI-AL dan AU.
Dokter Mayor Jenderal Budiman, Kepala Pusat Kesehatan TNI, mengkonfirmasi berita soal ketiga mitra seminggu yang lalu (4/14/2022). Perubahan ini terjadi setelah kenaikan pangkat Jenderal Andika Perkasa dari Kepala Staf TNI-AD ke Panglima TNI.
Di liputan mereka terkait perkembangan ini, Human Rights Watch menekan bahwa, “pemerintah Indonesia sebaiknya menginvestigasi trauma panjang yang dihasilkan oleh kebijakan [tes keperawanan militer] dan menyediakan dukungan bagi mereka yang telah mengalami efek negatif praktek tersebut.”
Saya setuju 100% dan sedia membantu upaya ini. Walaupun begitu, saya harus menyatakan permintaan utama petisi ini pada momen penulisannya di bulan Maret 2017, yaitu penghapusan “tes keperawanan” di lingkup TNI. Dengan bantuan Anda, permintaan itu telah dipenuhkan.

Dearest supporter,
We crossed the finish line! All three branches of the military—the army, navy, and air force—have effectively removed the practice of “virginity testing” for both recruits and military fiancées. I declared a petition victory in August 2021 when the ban was announced for the army by General Andika Perkasa, which bolstered media attention on the issue. Even so, various supporters of #stopvirginitytestsID continued to monitor the navy and air force.
Dr. Major General Budiman, head of the Military Health Center, was quoted last week (4/14/2022) as confirming that all three branches have ended it. These changes follow the promotion of the Army Chief of Staff, General Andika Perkasa, to Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces.
In their coverage of this major piece of news, Human Rights Watch insists that the "Indonesian government should investigate the decades of trauma this policy has wrought on women and provide support for those affected..."
I am in full agreement and am eager to help support that effort in any way I can. Nevertheless, I must acknowledge the initial scope of this petition when it was written in March 2017. It asked to end the practice and, with your help, that goal has been achieved.
