JOIN THE MOVEMENT! Amend 15.9 Franklin Zoning Ordinance on FLAGS
The Issue
Section 15.9 of the Franklin Zoning Ordinance strictly prohibits the use of more than three flags on any parcel of land. Including:
- Commercial and residential
- Any kind or size flag, including the small 7 inch flags
- Flags used to promote business sales like car dealerships and grocery stores
- HOA decorations that line neighborhood corridors like Donaldson Creek
- Small flags placed next to cemetery headstones
- Flags used to promote community events like festivities at Carnton Plantation, Jim Warren Park, and Main Street
- Team or School flags used to line HS football stadiums or community fields.
- Flags used on government buildings, community centers, and rich historical sites
- Flags used during patriotic holidays like Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day and 4th of July.
- Not equitably enforced
- Doesn’t apply to the rest of Williamson County
This limitation, particularly during patriotic occasions, hampers the ability to freely express patriotism, love of country, and the family values we hold dear in Franklin, TN.
Use the QR Code to sign this petition if you agree anyone in Franklin should be allowed to have more than three flags on a single parcel of land (if not otherwise bound by health, safety or HOA restrictions). Amend 15.9 of the Franklin Zoning Ordinance to do away with such unnecessary restrictions.
