Grangewood School in Newham, East London has provided high quality, independent, Christian education in Newham for nearly 40 years. The school has been successful in its diversity of pupils from different faith backgrounds.
The school’s only director is trying to close the school.
On the 26th March 2018 the parents, teachers and staff were informed that the school would be closing permanently on 28 March 2018, giving just 48 hrs notice. This callous decision was based on falsified accounts that claim the school is nearing insolvency. This is simply not true.
This caused a great deal of alarm and distress for the children and even more so for the Year 6 pupils facing SATs exams in a matter of weeks.
In response, parents have occupied the school building and are determined to FIGHT to safeguard their children’s education and welfare.
We are pleased to say that the children and teaching staff have returned to school after the Easter holidays. Local MP Stephen Timms and ITV news were there to welcome the children back on the first day. However the school is still not safe!
We need your support as we raise funds to legally challenge the decision to close the school.
