We've had an amazing week. Thank you to every one of you for adding your voice. As a volunteer-led cycling campaign, even 500 signatures felt like a huge target, so we are encouraged and motivated by the number of people who, after years of excuses, have already come forward to say they want this link built.

I now need your help.

Tomorrow, our cycling campaign chair has a meeting with Alex Chalk, our local MP and close connection of Mark Harper, the secretary of state for transport who is also a Gloucestershire MP. Ultimately, it's his department that can make this happen, and as we make our case, it would be amazing to have a chorus of 1000 voices behind us.

So, for the next 24 hours, if there's any way you feel able to share the petition and encourage others to sign it, we would be really grateful. We want to get to 1000 signatures before the meeting if at all possible.

Behind the scenes, we have now written to every Cheltenham councillor and party asking for their support. We've already had some eager positive responses, and we'll be publishing an updated list on our website from next week. Why not contact your local councillor and ask them if they've signed?

We've also started to collate our 'Honeybourne files' of correspondence, information we've unearthed, and plans. You can see how far developed the scheme was in the attached image, and how ready to tender it was as the clock ran down. We're also starting to hear a growing list of excuses about why it couldn't happen (railway revenue, somebody else's fault etc), and we'll do what we can to cut through these with the information we have.

Thank you again for your support. If you're like me, the small cost of this scheme when compared to the massive road projects progressing across the county says everything about the true priorities behind the soundbites.

Let's make a noise together and show how this is a real priority for local people.
