Preventable Death of Johns Hopkins Doctor- A Plea For Justice

Preventable Death of Johns Hopkins Doctor- A Plea For Justice

The Issue

On Christmas Eve 2014, Idoreyin Montague, a doctor at Johns Hopkins University, was tragically killed in a car crash in Baltimore, Maryland. Her father sought for nearly three years to obtain legal help. Just 72 hours before the statute of limitation expired, an attorney stepped in. Now, the lawyer is withdrawing. The forensics engineer is standing by his professional opinion, " Idoreyin was not at fault." The roads were wet and the road lines were worn down so much that they were barely visible. Police photos show that the front wheels of Montague's vehicle were turned full right indicating that she had cause to believe that she had to turn right and in doing so the tires of her vehicle, because of the wet pavement, hydroplaned. As she rotated across the barely visible lines an SUV slammed into the side of her Suzuki Forenza. "THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT A PROPER SYSTEMATIC APPLICATION OF POSITIVE GUIDANCE, ROAD SAFETY AUDIT OR ANY EQUIVALENT TRAFFIC ENGINEERING SAFETY PROGRAM, WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE CHRISTMAS EVE FATALITY OF DR. IDOREYIN PATIENCE MONTAGUE." Martin Wallen, P.E.The road on which Montague was killed on was also responsible for a number of other wrecks in the years before her death, yet no changes to increase safety were made. The city of Baltimore has legislative caps  which prevent proper presentation of her case in court and of possibly greater significance to the people of Baltimore because the road is still without positive guidance. The caps on tort liability prevents non-wealthy persons from securing legal representation. We believe Hopkins can help to influence the city of Baltimore to do the right thing.  Please sign to bring justice for Idoreyin and the family she was torn away from.
