As alumni of the Johns Hopkins University, we stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and their fight for liberation, and with the students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members who are participating in the JHU Palestine Solidarity Encampment on the Homewood campus. Solidarity encampments have arisen at college campuses across the nation, and we commend JHU affiliates and non-affiliates alike for joining this movement. 

We are also in agreement with the demands of the JHU encampment, and pledge to withhold donations from Johns Hopkins until they are met: 

1. Divestment: We demand that JHU financially divests from the Israeli occupation of Palestine. This includes but is not limited to financial investments in weapons manufacturers (Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon to name a few), academic partnerships, and research collaborations that fund, arm and sustain Israeli occupation. 
2. Disclosure: We demand that JHU provides an honest and full account of its complicity in war crimes committed against Palestinians. This account at minimum includes a comprehensive list of the university's current financial ties to Israel, its lobbying efforts to increase militarized spending and its use of weapons and military technology developed for the surveillance and mass murder of Palestinians. 
3. Academic Boycott: We demand that JHU ceases all cooperative degree programs, summer programs and other partnerships with Israeli universities. The Israeli occupation forces have destroyed all 12 universities in Gaza and disrupted the education of hundreds of thousands of young Gazans, and JHU as a leading academic institution cannot be complicit in educational apartheid. 
4. Demilitarization: We demand that JHU completely demilitarizes itself by abolishing the JHPD, ending its participation in transnational policing networks (namely, its employment and training contracts with the Baltimore Police Department which trains with Israeli Occupation Forces) and terminating its support for the Israeli military-industrial complex through the development of weapons, drones and missiles at the Applied Physics Lab (APL). 
5. Denounce: We demand an end to JHU's silence on the genocide of Palestinians and the silencing of pro-Palestine speech on campus. Johns Hopkins must issue a written statement denouncing the current genocide of Palestinians and the violent repression of pro-Palestine expression on college campuses, and will reaffirm its commitment to the right of students, faculty, staff and alumni to free speech without fear of reprisal.  

Finally, we demand that the University maintains the safety of all current students, faculty, and community members who are participating in the JHU encampment. Specifically, the University must not use police force or disciplinary action against encampment participants. The University must not impose any retaliatory threats to the participants' physical and emotional safety, academic status, and/or employment while exercising their right to condemn Israeli occupation and apartheid and uplift the fight for Palestinian liberation.

As alumni of the Johns Hopkins University, we  pledge to withhold donations from Johns Hopkins until the above demands are met.
