Protect Georgia's coast from oil and gas drilling

The Issue

Georgia's Golden Isles are a state and national treasure. The Obama administration's proposed 5-year plan for the Dept. of the Interior would open up the Atlantic coast from Virginia to Georgia for offshore drilling starting in 2017. This would expose critical wildlife habitat, fisheries, residential areas, and recreational areas to disasters like the Deepwater Horizon spill that devastated the Gulf Coast in 2010.

As Deepwater Horizon proved, even a single drilling accident can cause billions of dollars in economic losses, and environmental damage that will last for generations. The Golden Isles are the state's crown jewels. Protect the Georgia coast for the current and future generations that live, work, and travel here. Don't let the Department of the Interior sell out the people of Georgia to prop up big oil and gas corporations. Stop offshore drilling from coming to the Georgia coast.
