Since hitting 1,300 Supporters we have sent a letter to the Fenwick Island Town Council in hopes to get our petition heard by the new ownership.

Below is the text from that letter:

Mayor Langan, Town Manager Tieman, and the Officers and Members of the Fenwick Island Town Council,

My name is Dan Burke and I am a frequent visitor to your town. I grew up coming to Fenwick with my Mother who was raised in the area. As a child some of my earliest memories are visiting my grandmother and stopping by the FI Dairy Queen.

As I grew, the most significant right of passage I encountered was being able to take the 2 block ride from our beach house to DQ for a cool treat. 2 blocks felt like miles of independence at 11 years old. We went every night, just ask dusk fell on the town.

1,350+ of us believe that Fenwick has enough 'new' restaurants and that the Fenwick Island Dairy Queen is a local landmark for thousands of visitors to FI, spanning generations.

The petition I created at change.org represents those of us that believe, your years of work to preserve Fenwick as part of Lower Slower Delaware needs to continue by stopping the closure of the Fenwick Island Dairy Queen. This DQ is important to our history and the History of the town we all take a little ownership in, so important this effort has been featured in the news. We understand this is a private business dealing, however we know this single Dairy Queen is a much more important part of history and deserves the support of this body.

I look to you to take action in getting our petition seen by the business owners.
