My daughter and her school mates are constantly being harassed by TTC bus drivers who cannot gauge the age of children using the public transit system. Last year there was a decision by the TTC to allow children 12 and under to ride transit for free.  However, time and time again, our children are being harassed, day after day about their age and being forced to pay fares when not required because they fall in the 12 and under category.  I believe having some kind of carding system in place would save our children from a lot of harassment and unnecessary stress.

I am petitioning that the TTC come up with a solution such as provide cards to students 12 and under similar to bus pass with the students name, school name and possibly birth date.

Children come in all shapes and sizes, some look older than they actually are and others look younger then they actually are.  In any event, my daughter and her friends were harassed once again yesterday.  One girl was in tears after the driver harassed her about her age, even after she provided some form of identification which he took from her and told her she was not getting it back.  He then continually told her she was older than 12 and they were breaking the law and she was forced to pay a fare which her friend did for her.

In order to avoid this daily nuisance the TTC needs to step up fast and figure out a solution to this problem.
