In May of 2025, Attorney General Toni Buti denied a parole application for Dante Arthurs. After reviewing a report from the WA Prisoners Review Board, Mr Buti deemed Arthurs' release as an "unacceptable risk to the community".

I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the Western Australian and broader Australian community for overwhelmingly supporting this petition and the memory of Sofia Rodriguez. 

Mr Buti is aware of this petition and it did play a role in the decision to keep Arthurs behind bars.
