In a way I am grateful to this experience as a graduate nurse and midwife it drives me to understand more about trauma and its effects. The need to improve the pathway of support for all women is vitally important for her well being and healing. We have to remember that domestic violence is repetitive abuse physically mentally emotionally and financially. So a strong and stable pathway of support is absolutely needed.. My experience was torturous at the local council presenting me with a repossession order from my OAP sheltered bungalow and the way the order was delivered and the attitude of the staff member to the deliverance strongly suggested we need staff training on the subject to understand the issues. The failing of the system to support women is a failing of state duty of care as per UN directives on care of women exposed to violence in war and peace time. So my petition is a challenge to both local and central government to see the importance of the need to provide a strong and stable pathway of support.
I am researching the literature available to present an overview of trauma and its effects on the whole person that has been subjected to a violence and traumatic experiences. My pain at being a victim and survivor and then subjected to a failed system of support has helped me to get up and stand up for the rights of women aside me and behind me for a better support, I am writing a programme for a retreat weekend to help heal and empower women for us all to learn share and understand. I welcome your support and for more to see the need to challenge the situation through signing this petition. Thank you Marjorie
