Everyone on the planet will be affected by the build up of plastic in our water, and on our land.  I pick up plastic every day on Auckland beaches.  It has often been broken into small pieces, the smallest of which are no longer visible in the water or amongst the sand on our beaches.  

The amount of plastic used has been dramatically cut down by charging a small fee for single-use plastic bags in other cities.  This leads to people bringing bags to reuse.  I believe we are more than ready to do this in Auckland.  Please consider introducing a 10c charge for all single-use plastic bags.  Money raised could go to an environmental charity.  This will quickly make a big difference to our environment.
