Many New Zealanders want a more secular state with no ties to any particular religion. This petition  supports freedom of religion, whilst eliminating the bias toward the westernised religions that stem from Judaism within our national anthem.
There should be no such bias, as in developed nations like New Zealand, there are many religious and non-religious people.
As statistics show,  the number of people who identify as "religious" in this New Zealnd are declining, whilst the number of people with no religious affiliation are on the rise.
A National Anthem that best represents all of New Zealander's should, therefore, not have the word 'God' in its' lyrics.  
Many people feel vexed saying this word as it does not represent their views and/or beliefs.
Eliminating this religious bias means that all people, no matter their background or religion, can sing the anthem with pride.
