Demand John Kasich veto the Heartbeat Bill. The Ohio Senate AND Ohio House both passed HB493, amended to add a six-week abortion ban, AKA the Heartbeat Bill. The bill has no exceptions for rape, incest, or the health of the woman. This was completely unexpected, and senators had less than 90 minutes to review the amendment before voting. North Dakota passed a similar six-week abortion ban that was blocked by the 8th. U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals because it violates the principles of Roe v. Wade. The bill is now in the hands of Gov. John Kasich. He can sign it into law, veto the whole bill, or use a line-item veto to remove the abortion ban from the bill.
