Remove New York State Senator Fred Akshar from the Crime Victims Comittee

Remove New York State Senator Fred Akshar from the Crime Victims Comittee
The Issue
Senator Fred Akshar is a ranking member on the Crime Victims Committee of the New York State Senate . He was recently accused of a non-consensual sexual encounter by the grieving mother of a murder victim whose case he was working on while a Broome County Sheriff’s Detective. He has admitted to having sex with the woman. His behavior at the time was unethical and reflected poor judgement. He “victimized” a victim. For Senator Akshar to continue as ranking minority member of that Comittee would diminish and taint the work the comittee does on behalf of victims. For these reasons, we request he be removed from the Crime Victims Comittee of the New York State Senate.
